Join our clinic as a dedicated Security Officer, where your primary mission is to actively establish and maintain a secure and safe environment for every patient, visitor, and staff member. Your unwavering attentiveness and watchfulness are vital components that ensure the smooth operation of the clinic and, critically, ensure all individuals within our facility feel protected and safe during their time here.

Job Description

The Security Officer is responsible for executing and upholding all security policies and procedures within the clinic premises. This role requires a high degree of professionalism, constant vigilance, and the ability to respond effectively and calmly to security incidents, medical emergencies, and disturbances. You will be the visible presence that enforces safety protocols, manages access control, and acts as a crucial first responder to protect life and property.

Responsibilities:

  • Patrol and Surveillance: Conduct regular, documented patrols of the interior and exterior premises, including parking areas, patient care units, and restricted zones, maintaining a constant and highly visible presence to deter unauthorized activity.

  • Access Control: Monitor and control access points, verify identification of personnel and visitors entering secured areas, and ensure all locking systems and alarm systems are functional and properly used.

  • Incident Response: Serve as a primary first responder to all security-related incidents, alarms, disturbances, or emergencies (including code alerts, fire, or medical emergencies), swiftly assessing situations and taking appropriate action according to established protocols.

  • De-escalation and Conflict Management: Professionally and calmly intervene in potential or actual conflict situations, using effective verbal de-escalation techniques to resolve issues and manage agitated or disruptive individuals while minimizing risk of harm.

  • Reporting and Documentation: Accurately and thoroughly document all security-related activities, incidents, unusual occurrences, damage, theft, and safety hazards in detailed, objective incident reports.

  • Safety Enforcement: Monitor for and address hazards and unsafe conditions (e.g., poor lighting, tripping hazards), ensuring compliance with clinic safety regulations and reporting maintenance needs promptly.

  • Patient and Staff Assistance: Provide assistance and escorts to patients and staff upon request, particularly in sensitive or high-risk situations, demonstrating a helpful and service-oriented demeanor.

  • Equipment Monitoring: Monitor CCTV systems, alarm panels, and communication equipment (e.g., radios), remaining constantly alert to potential threats or irregularities.

  • Policy Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to all clinic policies regarding visitor management, property protection, and handling of sensitive materials and patient information.

Requirements:

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; advanced training or certifications in security, law enforcement, or military service is highly desirable.

  • Certification/Licensure: Current and valid Security Officer Licence/Guard Card as required by Sydney/New South Wales regulations. Current First Aid/CPR certification is highly preferred.

  • Experience: Proven experience (2+ years) as a Security Officer, preferably within a healthcare, hospital, or high-traffic public facility environment.

  • Situational Awareness: Exceptional ability to observe, recall, and report details, maintaining constant vigilance and attentiveness to the surroundings.

  • Response Skills: Demonstrated ability to act decisively and maintain composure under stress and in emergency situations, adhering strictly to procedural guidelines.

  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, climb stairs, and physically respond to emergencies as required.

  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong, professional communication skills, demonstrating diplomacy, respect, and clear verbal communication when interacting with diverse patient populations, visitors, and staff.

  • Integrity: Unquestionable integrity and ethical conduct, with a commitment to protecting patient privacy and confidential information.

  • Availability: Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as security coverage is required 24/7.

Your role as a Security Officer is indispensable to our healing environment, providing the necessary reassurance and safety that enables both patients and personnel to focus on health, recovery, and effective clinic operations.
